Las Leñas

Las Leñas abrió en 1983 y su nombre se debe a un arbusto desértico, de hecho, Las Leñas es el nombre de la montaña que se encuentra en frente del centro de esquí que esta cubierta de “leñas amarillas”.

Las Leñas is located among Andean landscapes, one of the most important ski resorts in the region.

The Las Leñas ski center stands in the middle of the Andes Mountains and its visit is a trip that is worth doing throughout the year beyond skiing.

How to get to Las Leñas
Las Lenas is 80 km away. from the city of Malargue. The route to get there is paved but in winter there may be snow or ice and the use of chains on the wheels of the vehicles is mandatory.

Well of the Souls
The Pozo de las Ánimas is a geological formation in the form of a large hole in the shape of a crater with its bottom flooded. This phenomenon is known as an eye of the sea and it has a diameter of 200 meters and a depth of 80 metres. The Pozo de las Ánimas gave rise to many legends in the area. To better observe it, a viewpoint was built. Distance from Las Leñas: 13 km.

The Molles
Los Molles is a hot springs center where there is a hotel and you can take baths in pools and do different activities. Distance from Las Leñas: 19 km.

Enchanted Girl Lagoon
The Laguna Niña Encantada is a mirror of crystal clear waters in the middle of the mountains and surrounded by an environment very rich in flora and fauna. The ideal walk for those who like walks. Distance from Las Leñas: 27 km.

Las Lenas ski complex
Every winter Las Leñas is the destination of thousands of ski lovers. The place, due to its geographical location in the middle of the mountains and with its base at 2,240 meters above sea level and its summit at 3,430, is ideal for skiing and snowboarding. The place was created exclusively as a ski center with 14 lifts, 29 ski slopes, 3000 beds distributed in different hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and equipment rental. A particularity of Las Leñas is that it has illuminated slopes for skiing at night. The ski and snow season runs from June to September.

Although Las Leñas is a center for winter sports, during the summer a part of the complex is still open to the public along with some lifts. Las Leñas during the summer season offers different mountain activities such as hiking, horseback riding, rafting, mountain biking and excursions to different attractions in the area.
